University Extension to Provide Leadership Program
University Extension Community Development Specialist Dean Larkin has been working with a planning group to create a leadership development program for Montgomery County. An Experience in Community Enterprise and Leadership (EXCEL) has been a successful program in sustaining successful communities for over 40 years in Missouri.
In an EXCEL type program we will take a series of topics and examine them in terms of what the trends are, nationally as well as locally. Then we will look at what resources are available to deal with the issue and finally what we can be doing to have some impact on the issue in Montgomery County. In other words, the participants will have a collective vision of where Montgomery County stands, what it is facing in the next few years, and what resources are available to us.
Participants will learn about our county as well as personal development skills. The idea is to have more effective citizens as well as organizations.
The program will begin on January 21 and will meet on Thursdays until April 8. Tuition of $200 will be used to cover the expenses of the program. You can pick up an application and ask any questions at the Extension office 573-564-3733.
